TV Pro Review    By Tom Armstrong

PC TV Pro isn't the best tool I've tested by a long shot. The interface is clumsy and the software hogs too much room. However it does have adult channels - if that's what you're looking for.

What does this software do? TV Pro lets you watch TV on any desktop or laptop computer without any additional hardware. After downloading and running the program you get a basic interface listing many local, national and international TV stations you can watch. Clicking TV stations you want to view opens them in a large built-in media player.
Buying notes TV Pro 2 offers an instant download after you've paid online. The payments are processed by Regnow, who are a very respectable company. I've bought a load of stuff through them and never had any problems. I was taken straight to the download page and grabbed the file.
First impressions Where's the installer?

One odd thing about TV Pro 2 (that you'll either love or hate) is that it doesn't install anything on your computer. You just get a file called tvpro2.exe (just over a megabyte in size) which you download and then run. This brings up the software. I guess this is useful if you want to run a PC TV program from say a floppy disk at work, but it felt sort of unprofessional and un-finished.

Not a bad-looking interface

The interface is split into a large video player window and two panels featuring different ways to choose channels. Firstly, you can choose based on the usual geography of a station - Africa, Europe and so on. Secondly, you can choose stations based on Genres. These include Music Channels, News Television, Sports Channels and a nice idea of 'TV in English'.
What I liked Adult channels listed

This is the only TV software I've tested so far which has a special section for adult channels. I get the feeling that when it comes to adult content, PC TV software manufacturers are usually a little unsure what they should do. They have to consider the legal aspects. Rather than get into the adult side of things, my guess is that most TV PC software makers just leave out the adult channels. That's not the case here.

It's just after lunch when I'm testing and reviewing this software and I was able to get access to several hardcore adult entertainment channels. The quality of the video is high. If you're looking for some software that gets you access to XXX channels, I'm sure you'll be pleased with what's on offer with this software.

There are around 8 channels featuring adult programs and they feature full hardcore movies that we couldn't normally get here in the UK.

What I didn't like HUGE, awkward software window

When you run TV Pro 2, it opens up in a simply HUGE viewing window. If you run your computer in a high resolution, you shouldn't have much of a problem. But anyone with their monitor set to 600 x 800 resolution will really struggle here. I found I had to keep lugging the software around just so I could access the buttons I needed. If you run a resolution higher than that though, you'll really like this interface.

Not enough stations - by a long way

This software claims to have 300 or more stations but it feels like a lot less. I mean there's not a bad selection, but it's just that for an extra $5 you could get Online TV Network - which has over a thousand. Clumsy channel selection buttons

I've tested a lot of PC TV software and I have to say that this one hasn't got a great interface when it comes to selecting channels. The links for each station are large graphical buttons that take up a lot of space. They're crammed into a small scrolling window that you have awkwardly scroll through to get to different stations.

Strengths
  • Low price - $25
  • Live updates to stations on a regular basis
  • Full, hardcore adult channels
  • Good quality video
Weaknesses
  • Big, clunky interface that hogs a lot of space
  • Couldn't make the video go full screen
  • Channel count definitely feels a little thin
  • No way to add a bookmark to stations you like
The verdict This software would seem like a much better product if there wasn't much competition on the market at the moment. It's not terrible, but the drawbacks mentioned above, like the huge interface and the low channel count, don't help it's case.

One thing that will really appeal to some readers is the simple access to adult channels TV Pro 2 provides. If this is the kind of content you're interested in then $25 is definitely not a bad price to pay for this tool.
Refund details Regnow offer a complete refund for this product if you decide it's not for you. Full details are included in the email confirmation you'll receive after purchasing the software.
