Live PC TV Review    By Tom Armstrong

There's no software included here. Just a long, complex 'geek' guide on how you can watch satellite TV on your PC. The worst product I've found so far. Save your money.

What does this software do? Live PC TV is a page with a series of links and information on how you can watch satellite TV stations on your computer.
Buying notes I found this PC Satellite TV product to review and thought it looked sort of interesting. I was excited to review it because it was the cheapest service I've managed to find. After all, the best products aren't always the most expensive ones.

Live PC TV is a budget offering for anyone wanting to start watching TV on their PC. It's completely software based and all you need is a connection to the web. The good news is that this product weighs in at under 20 dollars so it's less than half the price of some other products.
Downloading and installation After typing in the old credit card details I was taken to a simple page where you have to input a username, password and so on. Your login details are then displayed on screen. (Don't forget to write down your username and password at this stage - just in case).

There wasn't any downloading or installing as such. After you've paid your cash, you're taken to a special member's area. This takes the form of a long page (we're talking Biblically long here) describing where you can download the media players you'll need - like Windows Media Player, Quicktime.

There's also a bit of information on what streams are and how you can find free streams on the web. It quickly becomes clear that this is more of a guide to using what's out there on the web for free to watch TV on your PC.
What I liked Erm... the price?

I'm really going to struggle to fill in the product highlights - which usually flood this section here. I like to think of myself as computer savvy (I've been online since the late 90's and using computers from about 1983!) But I could not figure out what you're meant to do from this page. If this was my first foray into Satellite TV on my PC, I'd probably think 'OH, so it is a scam after all' and never try it again.
What I didn't like No real 'product' exists

You're not really getting anything for your money other than a rather complex page of instructions about how you can access free video streams on the web. Sorry to be so negative, but the whole point here is ENTERTAINMENT. This isn't meant to be boring, difficult or hard work. Which this site really is.

Complicated instructions

I read and re-read the page a number of times and did not manage to get TV up and running on my PC. Contrast this to the other programs I've reviewed - where you're watching stations in a matter of minutes - and it's just not a good product. I'm sure there's some folks who will spend the time figuring it out, but I really don't think it's for most users.
Strengths
  • A low cost product
  • Lots of information
Weaknesses
  • Not really a full product
  • Very complicated and totally uninspiring
The verdict So, what's the verdict?

I really did want to uncover a hidden gem for under twenty dollars but this product is a huge disappointment. I would not recommend it unless you really want to roll up your sleeves and get into the technical side of it. For that reason, I've given it at least SOME score here. But I definitely would not recommend this product.
