One of the best things that you can use your PC TV software for is enjoying music television. The music stations are some of the best quality ones available and there's always something on worth watching.
Online TV Network offers around 100 different music channels in it's range. And other programs have similar stations. And whether you like classic rock, reggae, or are into something else, there's loads here to enjoy.
The first thing to know about watching music TV online is that you can't get MTV. No biggie. Seriously. There are stations with different names that do an equally great job. You can watch the latest videos for tracks that aren't even out yet. As well as old favourites.
So what's the sound quality like?

Hey everyone! It's Friday and the weekend is on the way.
One of the things that I get a lot of emails asking about is "can you watch sports on PC TV?" This is something I've been researching this week, and I've got something to report on it.

I started by doing a lot of searching the web. And I looked into a number of products who promised I could watch sport on my PC. As I've mentioned previously on my site, there are a LOAD of really junk, rip-off products around when it comes to PC TV.

One of the big problems with Web TV is knowing what's on and when. So far there's no TV guide you can get that covers international channels and gives programming times. It can be overwhelming when you install a PC TV program and don't know what's on.
Here's a tip that will help you find program listings for just about any channel out there. It's quite fast to do and it's a great way to see what's on the stations you like. So you can plan what you're going to watch.
The first thing you need to know is that almost every PC TV station you watch has it's own website too. The trick is finding it. The good news is there's an easy way to do that.
Let's take one of my favourite PC TV channels as an example: Rapture TV. This is a station that shows all kinds of stuff I'm interested in, from extreme sports programs to movie & games news. It's a really good quality station.

I've just done a new review of a product that someone emailed me about and asked I look into.
But don't reach for the credit card just yet...
The product is called I-PCTV and it looked really exciting from the homepage. It promised a whopping 9000+ TV stations for viewing online without any monthly subscriptions. It also offered MTV and other big name stations.
So I forked out the $40 bucks as fast as I could and logged into the member's area to check it out.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to make a quick blog post here that might help some folks out with a tricky area of watching PC on your TV. I've had a number of emails (thanks guys!) from people asking questions relating to connection speeds and broadband.
Connection speeds and streaming video
PC TV uses streaming technology. Which is a complex way of saying that it involves a lot of transferring of information from the web to your computer. Videos are downloaded bit by bit and fed to your computer in a constant stream. The viewer never - or SHOULD never - notice the process and just enjoys the show.
What do you mean SHOULD never notice?

Here's some additional entertainment that you can enjoy with the software
PC Show Buzz. I was surprised when I reviewed this software to see they've included about 280+ of the web's best games that you can play at full screen. Like The Incredibles (below):
Even if you don't see yourself as a 'gamer' still check them out. You can play anything from puzzle games to action games - and there's some really entertaining titles here. Just be warned - they're VERY addictive!
OK so how do you get access to the goodies?
1) Start PC Show Buzz

I stumbled onto a page on the web yesterday where a number of people were discussing how you could watch many Internet TV channels for free. Without buying any of the products listed and reviewed on sites like mine.
What do I think about this? I think they're probably right. I even went to one of the links where you could watch these videos. Here's the link that was posted: http://www.lyngsat.com/
Wow - it looked pretty impressive. There were loads of stations listed there. But I must be really dumb because after about 10 minutes of frustrating reading and clicking around, I still hadn't managed to watch a single TV program.
This is a totally different experience to when I installed PC Show Buzz for the first time. It was super-easy to get started watching the channels because all you have to do is click on a station and press play.

Here's a first: I'm going to attempt a techy type blog post here. Got to admit that it's not my thing. I like using software and computers, but don't have much idea how they work. That's the way I like it.
Anyway - here's something that might help you enjoy the videos used by the PC TV programs out there.
Internet TV software uses what's known as streaming media. There's a longer explanation of this in the glossary. Streaming media plays video on your computer as it's being received from anywhere on the web. The great thing about streaming video is that even LONG movies will start playing pretty much straight away.
Now lets talk about buffering. And no it's got nothing to do with polishing your monitor. In a nutshell, the buffer is a bit of your computer's memory that streaming video is loaded into before it hits your screen. It's a temporary space that video uses in order to make for smoother viewing.

I've got a number of computers which I've been using to test the
PC TV software featured on this site. Only problem was on my main computer I kept hitting a real stumbling block. After a few minutes of playing the stations the software would crash. No matter which program I was using. They worked fine on my other PCs - just not on this one.
I can't tell you how annoying it is when this happens. You've just found the perfect station, it's all buffered up and ready to go, and then it's gone and you have to start over. It's enough to make anyone scream!
The
good news is I found two fixes that seem to do the trick. They're things I read about while trawling around on the Internet forums and trying to figure out what was wrong. I've now 'cured' the PC that kept causing this problem and it hasn't done it since.
Here's what worked:

Hi folks,
Thanks for stopping by the blog. This is something I really wanted to add to the site here. I'm planning on posting different updates, tips and things I find helpful here. I also want to post about the kinds of channels that I find that you might like. I found a great sports one today and I think this would be a great way to write about new PCTV stations I find.
Talk to you soon!
Tom
